The Hate Crime Co-ordinator manages the Race and Hate Crime Project, provides support, advice and advocacy to victims of race and hate crime and co-ordinates the multi-agency response to hate crime across the Hounslow Borough.  The Race and Hate Crime Project offers a  free, confidential and accessible service across the Borough.

The Hate Crime Co-ordinator works in partnership with Hounslow Police Community Safety Unit (CSU) and officers who investigate race and hate crime in the Borough, updates victims on progress made with their case and encourages victims to report incidents to the police whilst offering holistic support. HREC works closely with Hounslow Police and Hounslow Community Safety Partnership particularly the Neighbourhood Community Safety Co-ordinators who work in designated areas across the Borough.

The Hate Crime Co-ordinator ensures that maximum steps are taken to empower victims who suffer race, disability, gender, homophobic, age, transgender and religious hate crime and works closely with Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT’s) who carry out reassurance visits and patrols and other multi-agencies including Housing Associations, schools, NHS, places of worship and other voluntary organisations including the Disability Network, OutWest and Age UK.

HREC promotes preventative action to tackle race and hate crime by co-ordinating community engagement exercises, monitoring trends, mapping hot spot areas and referring known perpetrators of race and hate crime to the local Anti-Social Behaviour Action Groups for civil action.

HREC is committed to engaging with victims of race and hate crime and organises a quarterly Service Users Forum which gives victims of race and hate crime the opportunity to share their experiences and a platform to develop new, positive and engaging ways to tackle race and hate crime. The Service Users Forum also helps ensure HREC and multi-agency organisations improve their service for victims and to ensure that Hounslow operates a zero tolerance to race and hate crime.
